Hello, I’m Steve Waldren with Paramount auto body. Chances are if you’re watching this video, you may have had an accident. One of the most important decisions you’re going to have to make in this process is who’s going to fix my car? So early on, your agent is going to make a recommendation or your claims office is going to make a recommendation for you to go to an insurance referral shop. And they’ll tell you what you get out of that is you get convenience, we’ll be able to start on your car right away, you get a lifetime guarantee on it, so should you be in Timbuktu when something goes wrong, we can get it handled for you.

Well, let me explain to you want really goes on behind the scenes so you can choose wisely. Somewhere along the line the pressure has been put on to the agents in what’s to use these shops. Once your car goes into the shop, the claims office now puts pressure on the shop to perform at a level in different areas. Some of those areas are aftermarket imitation and used parts.

So usually, the general rule of thumb on that is you have to have 40% of the jobs that go through the shop have to have aftermarket or used parts on. So in order to accomplish that, you have to put those parts usually in structural areas that aren’t going to hold up the same should you have another accident, or they’re going to put them into cosmetic areas, and the general which aren’t going to line up the same. And the general rule of thumb on that is that as you, the customer, goes to pick it up at the body shop, if you can find out that it doesn’t look right, well then, we’ll do something about it. So the shops are generally instructed, “Hey, if there’s a problem with that, let the customer pick it out.”

Some of the other quote is that they have is repair versus replace. So which means that now you have to repair things set by manufacturer’s standard should be replaced on it. Another standard you have is days to repair. You only have so many days to repair this vehicle or the shop is going to end up paying for the rental car. Well, you can find out real quick that once a shop has to reach into its rental car, how many corners are going to start to be cut to be able to repair your vehicle.

So we give you this information so you can choose wisely. If at some point in time, you know people or your family members have felt prey to these practices, bring your paperwork in, bring your car in, we’ll do a free inspection of it for you so we can help you get that stuff handled on it as well. My phone number is (775) 329-6691. You can go to my website. You can opt in for discount coupons on it and

How To Become an Automotive Technician

Posted by admin on September 18, 2011

Automotive service technicians inspect, maintain, and repair automobiles and light trucks that run on gasoline, electricity, or alternative fuels such as ethanol. Automotive service technicians and mechanics responsibilities have evolved from simple mechanical repairs to high-level technology-related work. The increasing sophistication of automobiles requires workers who can use computerized shop equipment and work with electronic components while maintaining their skills with traditional handtools. As a result, automotive service workers are now usually called technicians rather than mechanics. ASE certification has become a standard credential for automotive service technicians. While not mandatory for work in automotive service, certification is common for all non entry-level technicians in large, urban areas.

3M Auto Boot Camp – 3M New Automotive Product Overview – DIY Car Enthusiast

Posted by admin on July 25, 2011

http://CollisionBlast.com – Hello Donnie Smith here and today I’m a tell you about a trip I had to Visit 3M Headquarters.

Index:
0:10 – Intro –
1:13 About 3M Event –
2:44 Networking –
3:52 LadiesStartyourEngines.com –
4:50 AskPatty.com –
6:58 3M Focus on DIY and Why –
9:50 3M auto body Products

I just got back from St. Paul Minnesota, which is where 3M headquarters is located. 3M invited several of us to visit their facilities and show us some of their new automotive products. In this video on my talk about the 3M trip the employees in the company, the networking, 3M’s focus on D I Y enthusiast and some of the new products they have available. First of all I would like to command 3M for such a good job for organizing the training event. Debbie, Monica, and the entire 3M crew for their efforts of putting this together and showing us a good time. The event was fun, yet very informative. It was also nice to have the opportunity to network with others in related industries. This allowed me to learn the perspective from others in other industries. I attend collision repair events collision repair instructor events, and education events. However, I tend to get stuck in those three circles do not have the opportunity to meet others and learn their perspective, as I did with this evening. I had the opportunity to meet people like Dennis the host of hot Rod Magazine Live Karl the host of Home Live Radio, Jay from Fender Bender Chuck from ABRN.com and Jon from Car and Driver. There was about 20 of us invited to attend. One individual I would like to mention is Lori from Ladies Start your Engines. We had some time to sit and visit and had some common interests as she educates women about the automotive industry. With me being a collision repair instructor we were able talk about teaching and teaching methods. She is also an adviser for http://AskPatty.com and what they do is educate females about the automotive industry. I’ve had the opportunity to meet Jody DeVere the CEO of AskPatty.com, several times and learn about their organization. They do a great service for the industry, not only do they educate women about the automotive automotive industry, they also teach the automotive industry about female buyers . It has been shown in statistics that there are more female car buyers than male car buyers. And they influence even a bigger percentage of all new car sales. Therefore if you’re a dealership selling cars a service center selling jobs or body shop selling collision repair jobs. It is important to market to the female population. If you don’t you are going to be missing out on a huge percentage of sales. AskPatty.com trains the industry and can certify you to be a female friendly shop in the automotive industry. To learn how you can be can become female friendly certified to AskPatty.com visit their website.
