The place isn’t a scam, it’s voted the number one car repair shop in virginia. But what are some reasons that they’d need the money when I drop off my car to get worked on? I already got the estimate for the damages and everything. Thanks yall!

1A Auto shows you how to save big fixing an old automotive air conditioning system. Replacing an AC compressor on a 10+ year old car may not make sense. This can cost $400-600. If your air conditioning is broken and your compressor makes a lot of noise save yourself lots of money by installing an AC bypass pulley. This pulley costs about $45 installs in place of your compressor and uses the same belt. This pulley works with 1992-2003 Ford Taurus, 1995-1998 Windstar, 1992-2003 Mercury Sable, and 1995-2002 Lincoln Continental.

Ford used the 5R55E in many rear and 4 wheel Drive applications. It is a good transmission but is susceptible to the valve body gasket “blowing out.” The symptom of this in our vehicle was that the transmission missed second gear under acceleration but found a higher gear when we let off the gas pedal. This is an easy problem to diagnose and only requires basic tools. Pull your transmission pan down, remove your valve body and see if either the gasket between the plate and transmission is damaged (as on our Explorer) or the gasket between the plate and valve body is damaged. If they are then you have an inexpensive rewarding fix. If they aren’t you can put your transmission together and know you may have a more expensive problem. This transmission was used in Ford Aerostar, Ranger, Explorer, Thunderbird, Mustang Mazda B-Series pickup, Mercury Mountaineer, Lincoln LS and Jaquar S-Type. This problem is more common to the mid to late 90s models. Torque specifications for the valve body to transmission bolts are 6-8 foot lbs or 70-90 Inch lbs. The bolts that hold the transmission pan on are 10 foot lbs.

1A Auto shows you how to replace the headlights on your Toyota Corolla. You do have to remove the front bumper cover but don’t let that intimidate you, all you need are a couple of screwdrivers. You will be able to fix a broken damaged cracked faded and chipped headlight and do it yourself.

I had a car that was almost totalled. The wheel axels were badly bend and the tires were pretty much wrecked. The car should just be repaired in time to be able to drive 5 hours away for labor day but im not sure if its the smartest thing to do.
To add more info the its a toyota yaris and it is both the front and rear axels on the driver side of the car.
I run a body shop and have repaired cars that were damaged way more than yours I even had a customer drive a car from Georgia to Arizona to go home after being run off the road and doing a little over $4000 worth of damage top the body and suspension system he called me to tell me that he had no problems 2 weeks ago so I would say go for it.
Have a claim against a drive with Farmers insurance. Does farmers sent the settlement payment to you directly, or send to the car repair shop?
Thanks for any one who replies.
The answer depends on the circumstances for your situation. If you have a vehicle you are making payments on, the lien holder has a vested interest in seeing the vehicle repaired, and there is probably some clause in the loan that makes them a loss payee, so they can insist the check go to the body shop for repairs.
If you own the car outright the money is yours, you can fix the car or not, as you please. But if you don’t and there is a second claim for another accident, the first damage that wasn’t repaired won’t be paid for again.
