Is it possible to get Car-Repair-Insurance on a vehicle with 250,000 miles?

Posted by admin on July 27, 2010

Been looking for auto-repair insurance for my used car, and they all seem to top out at 200,000 miles. Is this normal or am I just not looking in the right places? Note: This is NOT normal liability/collision insurance. I am talking about repair insurance.

You can’t really buy repair insurance on any car. All you can do is buy an "insurance policy". Just ask the almost 1,000,000 people who bought a policy from USFidelis for as much as $4,000 and now have a piece of toilet paper. The bankruptcy really didn’t change things for most of their customers anyway because they refused to pay for most of the repairs they promised. There problem was always due to neglect or abuse by the customer and so it wasn’t covered by the "bumper to bumper" policy.

USFidelis was the largest of these extended warranty companies but there are hundreds of others who for the most part are nothing but scams.

How much should I pay for my car repair?

Posted by admin on July 18, 2010

I am getting my car repaired today because it was broken into. The glove compartment handle was ripped off which was the only damage to the car. How much should I pay for them to replace the glove compartment handle? I drive a 2010 dodge challenger (my model costs $22,000-$25,000).

Take the car to your nearest Dodge dealer and they can look at the damage and give you a price on parts and labor. It will be less than you paid for the car. I think.

How do you repair a crack in your car’s windshield/rain shield?

Posted by admin on June 21, 2010

SCENARIO: When Nikki was parking her car in the parking lot, she noticed there was a crack in her windshield on her Volvo. She wants to replace the windshield, but she doesn’t know how? Should she let the car repair pros do the job or replace it herself?
A lot of you are thinking about me more than the scenario on top, think of the scenario on top than me because it’s about Nikki, not about me.

The repair people are saying that if the crack can be covered by a dollar bill the windshield can be repaired. Everybody uses the Novus system, which evacuates the crack and fills it with resin, then cures it with UV light. It takes about an hour and most windshield repair places will go wherever the car is parked and do the repair. The repair is virtually invisible (you can see it if you know where to look and look hard) and is generally guaranteed not to crack again for the life of the windshield. Here in Arizona, the Land of Rocks, we use the service a lot.

If the crack is larger than that the windshield has to be replaced. Definitely a job for a pro, it costs around $300 for most windshields. I have used Safelite, which offers prices and appointments on the web, and goes where the car is to do the work. Other companies may be as good or better, so feel free to shop around.

can i get car repair with my disability?

Posted by admin on June 9, 2010

I am on disability and i my car is really messed up i cant get my sticker because of my service engine lights are on. I went to autozone and they checked it, it showed ten codes. I dont have the money to fix my car and i was told there where programs for people on disability that would pay most of my car repair. Just wondering if true and how can i apply.

Call 2-1-1 and explain your problem to them. They can likely direct you to organizations that can help. Goof luck.

If I have a car repaired that I do not own, do I or does the owner have to pay for the repair bill?

Posted by admin on May 31, 2010

The car is my ex’s; he initially promised to give me the car. No title was forthcoming. I had to get it repaired. I refuse to drive the car because I it’s not legally mine. Since he’s the owner, can I wash my hands of it – legally? Can the mechanic shop owner sue me?

If you authorized the repairs then you have to pay for them.
The shop can put a mechanic’s lien on the vehicle.

Spent money intendened to pay for car repair?

Posted by admin on May 23, 2010

I was in a major accident and it was the other drivers fault. The other drivers insurance company contacted me and asked me what place I would like to get my car repaired at. I told them the repair shop. It took a while for the car to be repaired and little by little I would take money out of the money that was to be used to pay the repair shop. ( The check was issued to me but to pay the repair shop, but only my name on the check). The car is being financed. Now the car is finished and I dont have the money to pay for the repair. The repair shop is calling the insurance company telling them I havent paid for the repair, and the repair shop is threatening to put a lein on the car. What can the insurance company do to me and what can the car repair do to me. I still have a large portion of the money I need to pay them but they wont accept anything less than all of the money which I do not have. What can happen to me legally and financially.

Well, the insurance company has wiped there hands clean… they paid for your repairs and they are done. so they arent going to do anything to you (obviously they will be taking their rental back if you have one). The shop on the other hand will obviously keep your vehicle until you pay. and they will likely start charging you outrageous storage charges as well for every day they keep it (probably around 30.00 per day)

Should I claim a refund after not-professional car repair?

Posted by admin on May 18, 2010

I recently had my car serviced. During those mechanical repairs my dashboard gauges where broken (They were working perfectly before the visit). After that Electrician was called and carried on with electrical repairs. At the moment I bought a replacement dashboard element from eBay. My question is should I claim a refund from the garage for replacement item?

Did you tell the repair folk that the guages were broken by them before you left the premises?? Unless you can prove that it was them who did it, you will have very little chance of a refund. Perhaps if you plead your case in a polite way, they will try to keep their customer services on a good footing by offerrng you some kind of compensation. Good luck.
