I have several dents in my Ford Ranger pick-up on the bed and on the front fender where I had a fenderbender. The truck runs well, but it couldn’t get much uglier. I figured this might be a good auto maintenence project as I don’t have the money to get a pro to do it. I am not the most handy with tools, although I can use them without hurting myself, mostly.
auto body work is an art with a little science thrown in. You are essentially massaging metal to return it to its original shape. A dent is nothing more than stretched metal and it’s not easy to get it back to what it originally looked like. A body technician uses a variety of tools to beat the metal into submission, and applies heat and cold to work it into a usable shape. It’s not easy work, sometime very tedious, and physically demanding. I would give you an "A" for effort if you tried to fix your truck on your own but you could end up making it worse. Good luck.

I Dont Really Know Anything About auto body Collision Repair But I Want To Learn How To. Is This A Good School To Go To?
Do research. Check out your community colleges. Sometimes they offer these programs. For a lot cheaper. Lincoln tech is expensive. Go your community colleges and see what is best for you. Lincoln tech tells you fairy tale stories. In the end the ASE certification is what counts.
Here’s the link for ASE. It will tell you about school in your area. Suerte!

I was just wondering, if a customer changes their mind about fixing their car and the auto body repair place has already ordered the part or parts – can the auto body repair people send it back and get their money back or does that leave them high and dry? I want to do the honorable thing but if they can return it then I feel like it’s no too big of a woop- just an inconvenience to them and an embarrassment to me,lol. Parts being something like a bumber or fender or something of that nature?
I somehow don’t feel like I can ask them as I am skeptical of getting an honest answer.
They can return some parts but they are usually charged a restocking fee of 20% or so. It depends on what their arrangement is with the supplier.

I wanna know how I should start to get my experience in auto body. But what I really want to get into with it, is the graphic designs for cars. How should I go about it?
A good place to start is local car shows and start networking. When you find a design you like ask the owners who what where how they did the design. Most owners will talk all day about it if you give them a chance. Most auto design art is done with airbrushing techniques. The basic fundamentals of auto-body work are relatively the same. Practice the graphic art by drawing then draw some more and when you can’t do it any more, draw even more. Copy art work that inspires you. When you come up with a good design try it on your own set of wheels. Local auto paint shops will help allot with explaining the tools you would need to come up with the different effects your looking for. From pin striping to flames. Hope this helps get you started.
