    On most lamps …
On most lamps you’ll be polishing for the rest of your life when they get bad when they get cloudy or hazed over really bad.

What I’d highly recommend is using some 1500 grit sand paper and WET Sanding (use lots of water), rinsing the residue then repeat with some 2000 or 3000 grit to smooth it out. THEN Polish like to get it shiny and clear again.

If found that just polishing or using one of those headlamp restore kits often doesn’t work. Plastic lenses only also of course.
