A car repair shop replaced a ABS module for $1000 ($500 part+500 labor), but it turns out the module had noting to do with the car’s problem. Am I entitled to my money back?
I live in toasty Florida.
A good shop would not have charged you for it and just returned the part. Yes they would have been out the labor, but it is not your fault that the problem was misdiagnosed. That is how I run my shop. To answer your question though, I am not sure what the laws are in your area regarding that.

I live in Dallas,Tx and plan to open an automotive repair shop. I have been buying parts and supplies from autozone and it’s getting quite expensive and doesnt seem like we’re making any profit…where can I get parts and supplies for shop that are cheap/wholesales. thanks a lot of any input.
i don’t know any part houses there other than NAPA but if you ask some of the other shops around (that specialize in work other than what you do – your competitors probably won’t help), they are usually very helpful. stop by a local dealer parts dept.. their guys have a plethora of parts houses they deal with. go online and look up carquest and also try parts plus. i’m a bit surprised. usually when a new shop opens up, all the parts houses out there will beat down the new shops doors trying to get their business. very strange to me that they haven’t done so.

I am looking for exotic colours, possibly a design on the side also?
Does anyone know any good auto shops/ or paint shops that are reasonable in price but still good quality without chipping/ rust/ and fadding, located in or close to Toronto, Ontario?
I paint in a shop out of Ajax, Dealer’s Select Collision. It is a very high quality shop & I am a very quality dedicated painter. This can be verified at the website I run www.refinishnetwork.info. I am such a paint fanatic I have a website that connects painters around the world to discuss the best ways to achieve high-end repairs. This shop is primarily a collision repair facility, but we do many completes/color changes …etc to suit what people want. However, we don’t do graphic design / airbrushing really.
The resistance to chipping/rust/fading all primarily rely on how educated the painter is to apply the products properly and their ability to resist short-cut temptations. A salary shop you will probably find has painters more devoted to quality over a flat-rate shop. We can help you out if you decide to pass on any major graphic work, it is tough to find a good airbrush artist, when you do its quite often very big $$$.

i have a 2008 Toyota Camry (LE Model) and i want to replace the stock grille with a chrome grille to give it a nicer look. where in the area of Pittsburg, Antioch, Concord, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek can i find an auto shop that can provide that service?
thank you.
oh, well, u can get it from wherever the third guy said, but, you know, if you love chrome grilles that much, u should have got the hybrid, or atleast the XLE…uh, my tip would be, lose the plastic rims after this.

I live in Queens, NY and I am looking for auto repair place that does quality work at a good price. I have a 2001 BMW 325i and I need the front passanger side automatic window motor repaired and I am also getting the "Service Engine Soon" light on the dash board. Once the window is rolled down, it won’t close back up. This car has about 92,000 miles on its odometer.
BMW is a great car that is very complicated……many shops will tell you they can work on it….but if you want quality work you can trust you should go to the dealer…..the techs at a dealer work on nothing but BMW all day every day so they know your car inside and out…..the work will be done quicker and more reliable than a non-dealer!!!! good luck!!!!

I go to the dealer to get my car maintained, but one of the mechanics did a shoddy job last time (in fact I have to go back tomorrow to get some things fixed that he botched up). How can I tactfully request a different auto mechanic to do the work? I don’t want to cause any enemies or make him angry.
P.S. I go to this dealership because I have a service contract from them, plus my car is less than three years old and still under warranty
thank you! i’d appreciate any ideas that you have
Easiest way is to ask to talk to the service manager. Tell him your concerns and simply request a different tech work on your car. Be cordial, and I bet he will bend over backwards to be nice and take good care of you. Believe me, handle it like this and it won’t cause any problems.

A friend of mine suffered an auto accident recently, but she has not kept up paying her car insurance premiums. Therefore, it was canceled. Now she has no insurance and no money to pay up front. I would like to know if there is an auto body shop in the L.A. area which gives a payment plan in paying in installments or some sort of financing plan? Let me know ASAP! Thanks a lot.
THERE ARE MANY PLACES LIKE THIS BUT THEY DO NOT HANDLE THIS THROUGH THEIR COMPANY BUT RATHER FARM IT OUT TO A THIRD PARTY AND THE INTEREST RATES ARE ABOUT 23.5 PERCENT.
YOU WOULD BETTER OFF TRYING TO GET A PERSONAL LOAN.

Could someone suggest to me, who has no experience with welding auto body material, what would be the best for me to purchase? All I hear is Mig welders but how big and are there machines with both gas and electric? All I’m planning to do is some body work on cars, could be major jobs or minor jobs. Can someone help out here?
Seriously save your money. If you need to ask this you do not need to be welding, the welds will be poorly done and you will get somebody hurt eventually.

I am interested in auto body repair as a career and i want to make sure i get the best training that i can. If anybody can tell me which school is best that would be great. The scools that I know of that offer this program are South Seattle community College, Bellingham Tecnical College, and Lake Washington Tecnical College. Thanks
SSCC is a good one!
